Prateek Kumar has been promoted to the SVP of operations within Dusit International – a Thai hotel major. This puts Kumar in charge of operations for all EMEA hotels as he had been prior, now with India, Philippines, Singapore, The Maldives, Japan and select properties in Thailand now also under his remit.
Kumar will remain the general manager of Dusit Thani Dubai n the UAE.
Kumar first joined Dusit 14 years ago, in 2008, as general manager of Dusit Thani Manila. In January 2013, he became general manager of Dusit Thani Dubai. Two years later, he was promoted to area general manager – UAE, followed in 2017 by his most recent role: regional vice president – EMEA.
Prateek Kumar’s responsibilities
In his most senior post today, the Dusit stalwart will be responsible for enforcing brand quality standards, enhancing customer satisfaction, and delivering optimum financial returns at each property under his supervision. He will also continue to drive business development in EMEA and India, which have strong potential for Dusit’s brands.

Prateek Kumar’s recent regional achievements
Included in Hotelier Middle East’s Executive Power List this year, Kumar has had a range of successes over the last 12 months.
Under Kumar’s leadership, Dusit launched dusitD2 Naseem Resort Jabal Akhdar in 2021, the first Dusit-branded mountain resort in Oman. He also drove the launch of six new restaurants and bars. Dusit plans to launch a dusitD2 City Center Bahrain, eight new restaurants and bars, as well as six new upcoming properties in Kenya, Greece, Kuwait, KSA, Qatar and India.
