Biggest hires of the week: With big moves in Dubai and Doha

Get to know the top movers across the region this week shakers this week

This week there have been some massive hires with a couple of promotions at Grand Hyatt Dubai, new GMs at Hilton Doha The Pearl and InterContinental Doha Beach & Spa, a promotion at Kempinski Hotel & Residences Palm Jumeirah and a new executive chef at SLS Dubai. Read on to meet them all.

Grand Hyatt Dubai makes two new promotions

Grand Hyatt Dubai has announced two internal promotions. Nour Zayati and Yassine Essouissi have both been rewarded for their stellar performances. Nour Zayati has swiftly risen the ranks from corporate leadership trainee in 2015 to the director of sales at Grand Hyatt Dubai. Since his arrival at Grand Hyatt Dubai in 2010, Yassine Essouissi has been instrumental in propelling the hotel’s success, particularly within the events and catering sectors.

InterContinental Doha Beach & Spa appoints new general manager

InterContinental Doha Beach & Spa has appointed a new GM. The new hire brings over three decades of international experience in the hospitality space. Gerald Chevasson as the new general manager will oversee operations for both the InterContinental Doha Beach & Spa and InterContinental Doha Residences. Chevasson joins from W Muscat, where he served as general manager from pre-opening. During his tenure at the Muscat property, he managed 279 rooms, eight restaurants, over 500 sq. m of meetings and the Away Spa. A seasoned hotelier with over 30 years of international experience, Chevasson is recognised for his positive attitude, creative flair, and unconventional leadership style.

Hilton Doha The Pearl welcomes new general manager

Daniel Van Wyk brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to his role at the upscale property. Van Wyk has accumulated 20 years of experience with Hilton, serving as General Manager for various hotels in the United Kingdom and Doha over the last 13 years. He successfully managed the opening of two Doha hotels during the Covid-19 pandemic, ensuring profitability in their inaugural years. In his recent position as Cluster General Manager for Aleph Doha Residences, Curio Collection, and Doubletree by Hilton Al Sadd Doha, Qatar, Van Wyk led his team through the pre-opening phase.

Andrea Kosarew promoted at Kempinski Hotel & Residences Palm Jumeirah

Joining the team in December 2021 as a sous chef, he swiftly became an integral force, according to the hotel. His achievements include the introduction of a seven-course degustation menu at Brunello and the launch of a takeaway menu earlier this year.The chef’s culinary journey, spans a decade. He holds a postgraduate degree in Culinary Arts from George Brown College, Toronto and previous roles include positions in Canada and the UK.

SLS Dubai appoints new executive chef

SLS Dubai has appointed a new executive chef. With an impressive culinary career spanning more than 16 years and a distinguished background in hospitality and luxury settings, Jarvis Dong has honed his culinary skills across various prestigious establishments in the Middle East and Asia. His journey commenced as a Commis Chef at Madinat Jumeirah, followed by notable roles at Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts in Hangzhou and Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Sanya, China. Climbing through the ranks, the chef held senior culinary positions at The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh and Mandarin Oriental Jumeirah.
