The Pearl Spa and Wellness UAE Collection has appointed Amanda Schmiege as its new senior director of spa.
With over two decades of expertise within the wellness and hospitality industry, Schmiege brings a wealth of experience to her new role.
Having previously played a pivotal role in launching the spa, pool & recreation areas of the St Regis, W Hotel & Westin complex at Habtoor City in Dubai, Schmiege was also the Marriott Spa regional leader, opening eight properties to date and supporting an additional 15 spas across the UAE.
She said: “I believe that wellness extends beyond physical health; it encompasses mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The Pearl Spa and Wellness UAE Collection is more than just a place for relaxation; it’s a sanctuary dedicated to empowering individuals on their unique wellness journeys.
“To embody this philosophy, I am committed to offering a diverse range of options in fitness, beauty, and recovery, catering to the most discerning wellness enthusiasts.”
Amanda Schmiege’s career so far
Graduating from the University of Michigan with a focus in organisational behaviour, Schmiege completed further studies at University College London, holding a Nutrition Certification from the National Academy of Sports Management (NASM) and previously served as the president of the Hawaii Spa Association.
From starting her career at a local spa business in Michigan, to leadership positions with international hospitality brands including Elizabeth Arden, Starwood, WTS International and Marriott.
Schmiege has been an integral part of the Four Seasons spa team for the past five years, not only as senior spa director at Four Seasons Hualalai, but also overseeing spa operations at Four Seasons Oahu, Lanai, Bora Bora, St. Louis, and most notably, the opening of Four Seasons Cartagena, Columbia.
Beyond her professional accolades, she embraces wellness as a lifestyle and is passionate about exploring new and diverse workouts, immersing in nature with invigorating hikes and indulging in the soothing and mindful effects of sound therapy. As well as being an avid reader and advocate of nutrition, Schmiege loves to travel, exploring diverse and beautiful cultures that she integrates into her wellness philosophy.
Schniege added: “In the upcoming year, I am excited to unveil new and innovative services and classes that target aspects particularly pertinent in today’s fast-paced world. These encompass enhanced sleep techniques, mindfulness practices, contrast therapy sessions, and detox programs.
“Furthermore, I am looking forward to broadening our spectrum of amenities to encompass social events, beginning with our exclusive spa ladies’ nights. These events are be designed to unite like-minded individuals, nurturing a community ethos, and radiating positive energy.
“I am dedicated to helping our guests and members in realising their wellness goals and embracing and achieving their full potential. I invite all to embark on this beautiful journey and experience the transformative power of intentional wellness.”
