Kempinski Hotels, Middle East & Africa has seen promotions and appointments of five members in different departments including operations and revenue departments.

Riko van Santen, Chief Information Officer

Riko van Santen has been promoted to chief information officer of Kempinski Hotels and is now a member of the management board. Since 2012 he has headed a team of specialists as vice president of digital strategy & distribution.

In his current role, Riko van Santen will oversee the company’s global IT, distribution, guest intelligence as well as digital technology. In order to optimise the delivery and integration of software applications and the exchange of data across multi-system environment for all commercial and operational enterprise solutions, his focus will be on architecting the strategic direction of the company’s technology and data infrastructure. 

Wilhelm K. Weber, vice president of global revenue and digital strategy

Kempinski Hotels has also appointed Wilhelm K. Weber as its vice president of global revenue and digital strategy. Wilhelm K. Weber will oversee the hotel group’s revenue management and digital strategy.

Most recently Wilhelm K. Weber was managing partner at SHS Swiss Hospitality Solutions AG, consulting in commercial performance revenue management, eDistribution, digital marketing, and innovation. In his career Wilhelm has been on the board of directors of various hospitality related companies and hotels. Based in Geneva, he will further the company's revenue management strategy with a heavy involvement in implementation and execution together with his team.

Janin Blaser, VP for brand development

The new VP for brand development at Kempinski Hotels is Janin Blaser who will aim to strengthen the Kempinski brand around the globe by translating the company’s mission and vision into its brand identity.    
She has joined from Wiethe Group GmbH in Germany with an expertise in fashion and lifestyle. As head of business strategy and director content factory, Janin supported international fashion brands such as Hugo Boss, Adidas and G-Star in their brand, content and digitalisation development strategies. Prior to her agency experience, Janin worked at MRP Consult GmbH as director brand development, developing brand strategies for hospitality companies such as Dorint Hotel Group.

Michael Sorgenfrey, VP of operations

Michael Sorgenfrey has been appointed as the property’s VP of operations, Middle East & Africa. He joins the company from his last position as managing director of RIMC Deutschland Hotels & Resorts, a consulting, development and operating company for the hotel industry in the areas of hotel management, refurbishment and marketing support.

As managing director, Michael Sorgenfrey was responsible for the operational and strategic management of 15 hotels in Germany. Michael’s journey in hospitality started back in 1985, with a role as apprentice chef with Kempinski Hotel Atlantic Hamburg. He also worked as a hotel manager, in 2002, at Kempinski Hotel Adlon, Berlin.

Isidoro Geretto, VP of finance

Finally, Isidoro Geretto has been appointed as Kempinski Hotels, ME&A’s VP of finance. He aims to drive the financial performance of the company in this region to further growth and success. 

He joins Kempinski from his most recent assignment as financial consultant with Barcli Hospitality Management in Switzerland. Isidoro Geretto’s career in hospitality and finance started back in 1976 at the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz in Switzerland and held various accounting roles before joining Swissȏtel in 1987 and taking up the assistant financial controller position at the Hotel International Zurich.
