Nashon Mwamba, who won the Concierge/Guest Services Person of the Year 2018 talks to us about his work and how the win affected his life

We catch up with Nashon Mwamba, who is currently the guest service manager at the H Dubai.

When and in which category did you win a Hotelier Award?
I was the proud recipient of the Hotelier Middle East Award for the category of Concierge/Guest Services Person of the Year in October of 2018.

What was your role at the time?
I was the guest service manager at the H Dubai.

What is your role now?
I am still proud to be the guest service manager at the H Dubai.

How did winning a Hotelier award change the course of your career?
Winning the award has definitely had a huge impact on my career. For one, it has made me even more passionate about what I do. It has also showed me that I am capable of. It has also helped me define what I want to become in the near future which is a front office manager.

What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job was and still remains being able to help my guests create unique and unforgettable memories. I enjoy that I spend my days interacting with people from all over the world and all walks of life. It has really helped me expand my horizons and understand different cultures. Working in the hospitality industry is the next best thing to travelling the world.

What would you say to this year’s winners?
Being nominated in itself is a huge achievement which you should be proud of. And for the ones who will be lucky enough to take home an award, a big congratulations from me and always remember that the award comes with the great responsibility of upholding the values and principles that it stands for.
