Footage of a security guard attacking a homeless man outside London’s five-star property, The Savoy Hotel has gone viral on social media.

A video of the attack, which took place in December 2018 surfaced this week, prompting criticism against the hotel for not doing enough when the shocking incident occurred.

In the footage, the attacker can be seen repeatedly punching the man before ending the assault by stamping his shoulders, Daily Mail reported. Other members of the staff watched crime occur without intervening.

In a statement online, the hotel’s MD Philip Barnes said: “Yesterday I became aware of this utterly deplorable incident and immediately launched an investigation and reported it to the police. We are shocked and appalled by this and apologise to the individual and the public for what occurred.”

According to the Daily Mail, the attacker doesn’t work with the hotel anymore.

A spokesperson from the hotel told the publication that they have launched a “comprehensive investigation”. The spokesperson also revealed that the man was employed by a third party security contractor.
