Palace Downtown Dubai appoints GM

Marianne Fitzgerald's experience spans more than 25 years

Emaar Hospitality Group, the hospitality and leisure business of Emaar Properties PJSC, has appointed Marianne Fitzgerald as the general manager of Palace Downtown,  a premium luxury hotel under Address Hotels + Resorts, located by the Burj Lake, near the Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai.

An Austrian national, Fitzgerald, whose experience spans more than 25 years in the luxury hospitality industry, will be responsible for driving the day-to-day operations of Palace Downtown.  

Fitzgerald has previously held managerial positions in F&B as well as operations at renowned hotels across Europe and the Middle East.

Accrding to a statement, under her leadership, the hotels have been globally recognised for their commitment to excellence in the hospitality industry. She also has a strong background in human resource management including recruitment and training.

Chris Newman, chief operating officer of Emaar Hospitality Group, said: “Marianne is an experienced and talented hospitality professional and will be leading one of our most notable properties.

“Her leadership skills, experience in all-round hotel operations including F&B will help in further enhancing the value added to our guests, and underline Palace Downtown’s reputation as a premium city retreat that stands out for its Arabian hospitality.

“Her appointment will also strengthen Hiya, our women leadership development programme, as our Emirati and women talents will gain tremendously from her training and mentoring expertise.”

According to a statement, following her graduation in Hospitality Management from Donau-Universität Krems, Fitzgerald trained at IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems in Austria before embarking on a career that took her from her home country, Austria, to Ireland and the UAE.

Dubai, Palace Downtown features 242 guest rooms, inclusive of 81 suites with a Middle Eastern theme.
