Deliveroo introduces weekly payments for restaurant partners
It aims to improve outlets’ cash flow during the coronavirus pandemic
Deliveroo will now allow restaurants to access money made from deliveries within a week, in a bid to help restaurants combat the coronavirus pandemic.
The new service has been made immediately available to all of its restaurant partners, with Deliveroo covering increased banking charges for the rapid payments.
The service will be available for the next three months at least, before Deliveroo assesses whether to extend it at that point.
It comes as the government has forced all restaurants to close for dine-in due to Covid-19, with many relying solely on delivery as their source of income.
Anis Harb, Deliveroo GCC general manager, said: “At Deliveroo, we want to do everything possible to support our restaurant partners during this worrying period. We are here to deliver for restaurants who want to carry on offering their amazing food to families at home. This new rapid payment system will immediately improve the cash flow of thousands of restaurants and help them better manage their finances during these challenging times.”
Deliveroo says that hundreds of new restaurants have signed up to the delivery platform in the past month, despite concerns being raised across the industry about the size of commission payments that aggregators are taking from restaurants.
