Roka opens in Dubai
The concept by Rainer Becker has opened at ME Dubai
Roka has opened in the ME Dubai within The Opus by Omniyat in Business Bay with its award-winning Japanese robatayaki concept. Bringing its contemporary Japanese cooking and urban design to Downtown Dubai, the new venue is the brand’s first Middle east opening since the conception of the flagship location in Charlotte street, London, in 2004
Rainer Becker, the man behind the world-famous contemporary Japanese restaurant Zuma, is back at it with his new venture that seats 100 inside diners in its chic-meets-industrial 7,400 square-foot space. The slick interiors lead on to a 64-cover terrace with skyline views.
The new dining destination holds the robata grill at the heart of its menu, serving dishes such as yakitori-negima yaki - robata grilled chicken skewers with spring onion and the Kankoku fu kohitsuji, lamb cutlets with Korean spices and sesame cucumber. Roka Dubai will also be serving key signature dishes such as Kampachi sashimi no salada, a dish made famous in London and consists of yellowtail sashimi, yuzu-truffle dressing and the sake no taru taru – salmon tartare with den miso and yuzu.
Commenting on the new opening, Rainer Becker said, “After being so warmly with Zuma in 2008, we felt it was a good time to bring its sibling Roka into the region. We are very much looking forward to showcasing more of the robata experience which is at the heart of the restaurant, making a relaxed and edgy vibe for dining. Moving into the Zaha Hadid designed, The Opus is very exciting for us all and we hope we can create a cool and multi-dimensional dining experience with a neighbourhood feel for the Dubai community.”
