Popular Irish bar McGettigan’s has closed four of its UAE locations in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

Revealing the decision through social media, McGettigan’s said: “In line with our values we will continue to put colleagues, customers, and community’s welfare at the heart of the decision we make in these unprecedented times. It is with regret, but more so a feeling of responsibility, that we have taken the decision to temporarily close our pubs at JLT, Madinat, DWTC, and AUH.”

The sports bar had previously introduced temperature checking at its JLT location in a bid to prevent people with coronavirus entering the premises, and the plan was to roll that our across all locations before today’s announcement.

McGettigan’s said it will monitor the situation and work with the government to reopen when possible in the future.

It follows on from Lebanon and Saudi Arabia shutting all restaurants and cafes in a bid to halt the spread of the virus.
