Irish pub McGettigan’s has introduced temperature testing at its JLT location in Dubai in response to the coronavirus outbreak currently sweeping the globe.

Customers attempting to enter the bar at the Bonnington Hotel are all being checked, with a sign outside saying that those exhibiting a temperature “above normal” will be denied entry to the premises.

McGettigan’s Group director of brands, sales, and marketing Brendan McCormack told sister publication Caterer Middle East that “we are simply doing all we can to ensure the safety of our patrons and colleagues” and that “the initiative has been well received by patrons of McGettigan’s and Bonnington hotel guests.”

He added that the popular Irish sports bar and live music venue is “currently piloting the initiative at McGettigan’s JLT and Bonnington Hotel with a view to rolling it out across all of our venues.”
