Almost all Abu Dhabi hotels have received Go Safe certificate
It aims to standardise hygiene measure across the emirate
Almost 150 of Abu Dhabi's hotels have received the Go Safe hygiene certifcate.
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) introduced Go Safe to standardise hygiene measures across the emirate’s tourism and retail establishments.
The campaign is similar to the Dubai Assured certification rolled out recently to enhance hygiene in Dubai.
Measures include the adoption of social distancing courses, checkpoints for temperature screenings, regular disinfection of all operational areas and COVID-19 testing for employees.
Since the campaign’s launch in June, Go Safe protocols have been enacted at 146 of the emirate’s hotels. These include Emirates Palace and The St. Regis Abu Dhabi, alongside tourism sites such as Louvre Abu Dhabi and Qasr Al Hosn. More than 95 percent of hotels in Abu Dhabi are on track to receive the certification, with plans to certify 100 percent of its hotels by the summer’s end.
“In a short amount of time, Go Safe has successfully become the benchmark for hygiene and safety levels in Abu Dhabi, blazing a trail in setting world-class standards in cleanliness and improved public health,” said HE Ali Hassan Al Shaiba, Executive Director of Tourism and Marketing, at DCT Abu Dhabi. “It is inspiring to witness the collective effort put forth by our team and industry partners to effectively implement the guidelines of the programme. Go Safe was created with our consumers’ concerns in mind, to help boost their trust and confidence and allow them to experience the best of Abu Dhabi all whilst feeling safe and reassured.”
The latest figures coincides with the Department’s ‘Rediscover Abu Dhabi’ campaign, aimed to reinvigorate domestic tourism in the capital city. Despite its neighbour Dubai reopening for international tourism at the start of the month, Abu Dhabi has remained focused on domestic tourism, explaining it is fundamental to the industry’s recovery.
Recent UAE reports noted that 81 percent of residents had originally planned to take international trips during the summer of 2020, but that 93 percent of those either cancelled or postponed their travel plans, due to the global outbreak of the pandemic.
The campaign includes a variety of deals across hotels and attractions, including all-inslusive packages and hotel stays coupled with experiences at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Lovure Abu Dhabi or Yas Waterworld.
