The past week in the hotel industry has witnessed an array of key events and openings. Among these are the opening of Marriott Marquis Dubai at Jewel of the Creek, Grand Millennium Business Bay reflags to Marriott’s Renaissance brand, Ennismore’s Delano brand will open in Dubai at Bluewaters this year, and InterContinental Residences Dubai Business Bay is set to open in summer.
Other key news were Luxury Hotelschool partners with Saudi’s US$100 million Tourism Trailblazers project and NEOM has unveiled its latest resort, Treyam, situated across the opening of one of the lagoons at the southern end of the Gulf of Aqaba.
Ennismore’s Delano brand to debut in Dubai at Bluewaters
Dubai is to get its first Delano hotel, as part of the deal between Dubai Holding and Ennismore for Bluewaters that was signed in 2023. The Ennismore brand will open later in 2024 in the property that had been referred to as Bluewaters Beach Hotel recently. It joins the Banyan Tree Dubai hotel, which opened late last year. Delano Dubai will feature 251 guestrooms, including 84 suites, some with private pools. There will be four F&B outlets, including one collaboration with Paris Society.
New opening: Marriott Marquis Dubai opens at Jewel of the Creek
Marriott Marquis Dubai has opened at the Jewel of the Creek development. With four towers, Marriott Marquis Dubai “draws inspiration from the fluidity of water, mirroring the elegance of its waterfront location”. Boasting 434 modern rooms and suites, the property features serviced apartments spread across three towers. Marriott Marquis Dubai has three restaurants, gastropub The Copperhead, Italian venue Bella Bocca and Creek Kitchen, offering international all-day dining.
InterContinental Residences Dubai Business Bay to open in summer 2024
InterContinental Residences Dubai Business Bay will open in summer 2024. Part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, it will have 176 hotel units, including studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom serviced apartments. Mohamed Mahmoud, cluster general manager and general manager of InterContinental Residences Dubai Business Bay said: “InterContinental Residences Dubai Business Bay follows the brand’s philosophy and commitment to helping guests ‘shapeshift’ throughout their day. It’s poised to welcome the next generation of luxury guests.”
Grand Millennium Business Bay reflags to Marriott’s Renaissance brand
Marriott’s Renaissance brand is returning to Dubai’s Business Bay. RTS Investments Group signed a deal with Marriott International to rebrand its Grand Millennium Business Bay hotel. The property will become the Renaissance Business Bay Hotel, Dubai and will officially join the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio in the second quarter of 2024. Throughout the transition period, the hotel will remain fully operational.
Luxury Hotelschool partners with Saudi’s US$100 million Tourism Trailblazers project
Luxury Hotelschool has announced its participation in Saudi Arabia’s Tourism Trailblazers Program – Investing in the Future of Tourism, a flagship initiative under Saudi Vision 2030. Initiated by Saudi’s Ministry of Tourism, the project aims to empower 100,000 Saudis over five years with essential skills vital for careers in the kingdom’s tourism sector. With an investment exceeding US$100 million, the initiative is poised to generate one million jobs in the sector by 2030.
NEOM’s latest resort, Treyam, will have a 450m infinity pool crossing a lagoon
NEOM has unveiled its latest resort, Treyam, situated across the opening of one of the lagoons at the southern end of the Gulf of Aqaba, close to The Line. Its bridge-like architecture will connect the northern and southern shores, hosting a 250-room luxury resort. Its upper and lower floors offer views of the tidal lagoon below and skies above. There will also be a 450m rooftop infinity pool. Treyam is designed for adventure and endeavour, according to NEOM and will offer sailing, diving and other water sports, along with a range of land-based activities.
