WTTC launches travel & tourism recovery dashboard
The portal is to help tourism professionals monitor flight and hotel bookings
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has launched its own interactive dashboard to show the recovery trends across the hospitality and aviation sectors.
The dashboard also looks at traveller confidence and intent via popular Google searches.
Titled as ‘Interactive COVID-19 Travel Demand Recovery Dashboard’, the platform collates qualitative and quantitative travel data on both the global and regional level, looking at how 33 of the world’s major countries have performed throughout the year. Updated every two weeks, the dashboard keeps track of trends in the travel sector.
ForwardKeys, a business intelligence company, provides the flight data, while data company STR shares hotel occupancy data.
Gloria Guevara, WTTC chief executive, said: “We have created a unique dashboard featuring qualitative and quantitative data to provide the insights which could be crucial to help the tourism sector re-start and map out the path to its recovery.
“Our dashboard will enable decision makers to track the impact of public policies by monitoring the positive and negative fluctuations of flight and hotel bookings and also online travel searches, as well as consumer confidence.
“Data is essential for businesses, government and other organisations to make informed choices and drive the policy which will revive a sector that has suffered disproportionally due to the pandemic.”
