Abu Dhabi's Yas Island gets the World Travel & Tourism Council's Safe Travels stamp
It is the emirate’s first destination to receive the hygiene certification
Yas Island, Abu Dhabi’s main leisure and entertainment destination, has received the World Travel & Tourism Council’s (WTTC) Safe Travels stamp, making it the first place in the capital with certification.
So far the stamp has been awarded to key tourist destinations such as Turkey, Mauritius, Portugal, Vienna, Dubai and Saudi Arabia, and is seen as a catalyst in the recovery of the travel and tourism sector.
Launched by the council at the height of the virus, the stamp recognises businesses and destinations which have adopted WTTC’s set of standardised health protocols to combat COVID-19. These protocols include providing guidance to travel providers and travellers about the new approach to health, hygiene, deep cleansing and physical distancing.
Similar to Etihad Airways’ Wellness Ambassadors, Yas Island has deployed trained individuals to answer guests’ questions and health concerns. These Wellness Ambassadors will be at Yas Island’s theme parks, hotels and attractions.
