Somewhere Hotels was established in 2013. Today, the Dubai-based group operates four hotels in the Middle East, including: Somewhere Hotel Residence Deira, Dubai; Somewhere Hotel Residence Al Ahsa, Saudi Arabia; Somewhere Hotel Hop Barsha Heights, Dubai. In 2018, the group opened Somewhere Hotel Bliss in Al Ahsa Saudi Arabia.
Speaking to Hotelier last year, Somewhere Hotels corporate office general manager Abdullatif Kabara said the mid-market hotel group was bullish about prospects in Saudi Arabia.
“Even though the market has gone down, there are areas which are always doing very well, such as Makkah,” he said, adding that Somewhere Hotels was in discussions over management of a property in Al Khobar, with details to be disclosed once the agreement is finalised.
The group is also looking at integrating more technology in front of house processes. The company intends to o introduce kiosk check-in robots in two of its properties in Barsha Heights and Al Ahsa.
“Personally, I am a big fan of technology. This is an area where, if you constantly invest in and upgrade, then this is where you can actually compete with bigger, more established hotel groups,” Kabbara said when the news was released.
