Jannah Hotels & Resorts’ founder and CEO Nehme Imad Darwiche has ambitious plans for the group to hit 33 properties open or in the pipeline by 2020. However, the group’s portfolio seems to have taken a hit this year, going from 16 operational properties in 2017 to seven this year. The group’s pipeline has also gone from seven hotels in 2017 to only two, based on information provided for this year’s ranking.
Darwiche launched Jannah Hotels & Resorts in 2013, and properties in the group’s current portfolio include Jannah Burj Al Sarab, Jannah Place Abu Dhabi, Jannah Marina Bay Suites, Jannah Place Dubai Marina, and the Jannah Resort & Villas Ras Al Khaimah. Upcoming properties include Jannah Residences City Centre Abu Dhabi, Jannah Creek Dubai, and Jannah Ras Al Khor, Sharjah.
In May 2017, the group announced it would build and operate Sharjah’s tallest tower, Jannah Ras Al Khor. It was also reported in August 2016 that Jannah was on an expansion drive, with plans to add three new properties in the UAE by 2018, although no update on this was provided to Hotelier
