After a quiet 2017, Shaza Hotels has ramped up its plans for the regions, signing several new hotels in the GCC this year and adding to its stable of operational hotels.
In January, the group opened its flagship 195-room Mysk by Shaza Al Mouj property in Muscat. This was quickly followed by the signing of a Mysk property in Kuwait, set for a 2020 debut. The group also signed a Dubai hotel under the upscale brand this year.
The group’s second opening this year — Shaza Makkah in Saudi Arabia, is located within the precincts of Al-Masjid Al-Haram and the new Jabal Ka’aba district. The property joins sister hotel Shaza Al Madina, which is currently undergoing a US $2.7 million refurbishment.
With three operational hotels in its portfolio, Shaza Hotels has a busy few years ahead, as it prepares to open an additional eight hotels. While Saudi Arabia is high on the company’s agenda, other GCC destinations, namely Amman and Bahrain, are also on the cards.
