Although he has only been the president and chief operating officer for less than two years, Philippe Zuber has been in the hospitality industry for more than two decades, having previously served as the COO for Emaar Hospitality Group.
Headquartered in Dubai, One&Only’s parent company, Kerzner International, is busily planning for the rapidly approaching launch of its second Atlantis property located on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah, the Royal Atlantis & Residences.
According to Zuber, One&Only is currently in a strategic development phase. In April 2017, it announced plans to expand the One&Only portfolio, creating One&Only Nature Resorts, One&Only Urban Resorts, and One&Only Private Homes. These new experiences will complement the existing resort collection, he says, specifically the One&Only Beach Resorts. The hotel company has also revealed plans to open two resorts in Rwanda – the One&Only Nyungwe House, which is slated to open on 1 October, 2017, and One&Only Gorilla’s Nest, due to open its doors in late 2018.
Globally, the company has an additional five resorts currently in development – one in Sanya, in Hainan, China; another in Montenegro, which will be the first property for the collection within Europe; one in Bahrain; and two new resorts on the Pacific Coast
According to Zuber, who believes in an open-door style of management, the best part of his job is working with many different people from around the world in the company’s various departments.
