German hotel operator Deutsche Hospitality’s current portfolio of 10 hotels is set to nearly double, with eight new properties in the pipeline in GCC markets.
In April 2018 the group opened its third property in Tunisia — the Steigenberger Hotel Palace Marhaba on the Gulf of Hammamet — joining two hotels that opened in the country in 2017: Steigenberger Kantaoui Bay, and Jaz in Sousse.
Deutsche Hospitality is also signed up to open another Steigenberger hotel in Egypt. The Steigenberger Resort Achti in Luxor, Egypt is set to open its doors before the end of 2018, and will be located on the east bank of the Nile.
The group also continued its expansion spree in Oman, with the signing of a second InterCityHotel, this time in Muscat. The 285-room hotel is scheduled to open by 2020 and will join the InterCityHotel Salalah, which opened in 2016.
Earlier this year, Deutsche announced a new brand — Maxx by Steigenberger, which will cater to the upscale segment, filling an existing space between Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts, which is luxury and upper upscale and upper mid-scale brand IntercityHotels, and lifestyle brand Jaz in the City.
