In 2016, Hussein Ali Hatata and his team opened Al Khozama’s first resort property, Al Faisaliah Resort & Spa.
Later, in May 2017, according to sister publication, Construction Week, Al Khozama Management Company appointed global contractor Selini Impregilo to handle the US $293m redevelopment of Al Faisaliah Centre, which encompasses extensive renovations to Al Faisaliah shopping mall, Al Faisaliah Hotel, and Al Faisaliah Suites, and will include the construction of a five-star Al Khozama Hotel, expected to open in 2018.
Al Khozama Management Company is intent on its quest to be Saudi Arabia’s leading hospitality brand, as Hatata has revealed in numerous interviews over the past few years. Hatata joined the firm in 1978, and is a proponent of the company’s diversified business model of owning, investing, and operating.
He has shown keen interest in the company’s expansion across Saudi Arabia — citing Al Khobar and Dammam as targets — as well as further afield, revealing intentions to open Sharia-compliant hotels in the UAE and the Maldives. Although Al Khobar features in the group’s active pipeline, no announcements have been made for the other destinations.
Currently, the company’s management portfolio includes Al Shohada Makkah and Bay La Sun Hotel & Marina in King Abdullah Economic City, Jeddah.
