With a portfolio of more than 20 projects and properties worth SR 2.4 billion (US $639.9m) in the pipeline, Dur Hospitality is one of the largest and longest-standing hospitality companies in Saudi Arabia.
At its helm, CEO Dr Badr bin Hamoud Al Badr is driving the company’s focus on the development of three- to four-star hotels in the emerging Saudi markets of Jeddah, Tabuk, Yanbu and Al Hofuf.
Pipeline properties for the group include a 238-key hotel in Jeddah, and a four-star hotel in Al Hofuf city. Dur is also developing the first Courtyard by Marriott and Residence Inn by Marriott properties in Yanbu. The 150-key project marks Marriott International’s first franchise agreement in the kingdom. Also part of Dur Hospitality’s strategic expansion plan is the group’s plan to increase the number of rooms it operates in Makkah and Madinah to more than 5,000 rooms by 2023.
Dur is also aiming to double the company’s portfolio of owned properties. With around 22 projects at different stages in the pipeline, most are scheduled for delivery between 2018 and 2020, Al Badr tells Hotelier.
Additionally, in line with the nationalisation goals of the kingdom’s Vision 2030, Dur Hospitality increased the percentage of Saudi employees from 21% to 36% in 2017, achieving one of the highest rates in the sector.
