With 13 properties in the pipeline across the Middle East and North Africa region as well as “a number of HMAs awaiting imminent signing in new markets”, the Middle East continues to be an area of key strategic focus for Minor Hotels.
According to the group’s COO, Robert Kunkler, the leadership team have “ambitious plans to further expand Minor’s existing brands in the region and to explore strategic acquisitions with strong joint-venture partners.”
While no new hotels were added to the group’s regional pipeline over the last 12 months, Minor is set to open an Anantara-branded property in Sharjah in 2021. The brand is also scheduled to debut in early 2019 in North Africa with Anantara Tozeur Resort opening in Tunisia, which will be followed by Anantara Al Houara Tangier Resort in Morocco the year after.
Growing the upscale Avani brand is also a key area of focus, while the group also launched Tivoli Hotels & Resorts in the region, with more properties under the brand slated to open in the Middle East this year.
