Following an early stint in the F&B department of the Hyatt Regency Dubai in the late 1980s, Peter Fulton returned to the region as general manager of the Grand Hyatt Dubai, which opened as the largest hotel in the region in 2003.
And, as Hyatt developed in the GCC and farther afield, a new division was set up in 2008 to spearhead expansion with Fulton at the helm. Here, he has charge of Hyatt hotels in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE as well as India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and the Maldives.
Under his watch, Hyatt has massively developed its network in India with 38 hotels in the pipeline, while closer to home, three new hotels have been announced for Makkah where a Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Place and Hyatt Summerfield Suites will open in 2013/2014.
More immediately, Abu Dhabi will see its first Hyatt properties later this year when the Park Hyatt opens on Saadiyat Island followed by the Hyatt Capital Gate at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
