Born in South Africa and brought up in the United States, Alan Leibman has made Dubai his home and developed the Kerzner footprint to include three of the emirate’s most prestigious hotels — the Only&Only Royal Mirage, Atlantis The Palm and the One&Only The Palm.
Starting his career in hospitality with Ritz-Carlton in Houston, Leibman became that group’s youngest-ever general manager at the age of 25, later assuming the role of director of operations for its Australia division.
Joining Kerzner in 1995, Leibman started as director of special projects, before taking over as general manager and then chief operating officer of Kerzner resorts in the Bahamas, and moving to Dubai to oversee the launch of Atlantis The Palm, which opened in September 2008.
Currently president and managing director for Kerzner International in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, Leibman has charge of operational developments at Atlantis The Palm as well as overseeing resort properties in Mauritius, the Maldives, South Africa and Morocco.
His latest baby — the One&Only The Palm Dubai — opened this year and has already established itself as a premium boutique hotel with a location to die for at the tip of The Palm Jumeirah facing the Dubai skyline.
