As acting chief executive officer of Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), a master developer of major tourism destinations in Abu Dhabi, James Pringle is charged with building and delivering the company’s development programme.
This comprises some of the UAE capital’s most prestigious projects, including Saadiyat Island and Desert Islands, both of which are entering new growth phases as TDIC continues its biggest year of delivery to date.
Pringle is overseeing the opening of the first properties on Saadiyat Island from September onwards — the Monte Carlo Beach Club, Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi and the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort — as well as two new launches on Sir Bani Yas island in partnership with Anantara.
On Abu Dhabi island itself, TDIC is also developing the Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa, which will open ahead of the Formula 1 in November of this year, and the Eastern Mangroves Resort & Spa by Anantara, which is due to open early in 2012.
As a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, TDIC also plays a major role in promoting Abu Dhabi as a must-visit destination.
Prior to joining TDIC, Pringle spent more than half of his 35-year career based in the region and is very much intertwined in Middle East culture.
