As general manager of Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels (SWBH), British-born Carl Henderson is responsible for six boutique hotels within the Doha tourism and community hot spot.
The brand, owned and managed by Al Rayyan Hospitality, opened four luxury, alcohol-free properties — Al Mirqab, Arumaila, Al Najada and Musheireb — ranging between 14 and 37 rooms within the space of six months between December 2011 and May 2012.
Completing the six-hotel development, two properties will launch before the end of the year under the watchful eye of Henderson.Al Jasra will feature 24 studio rooms, mini-spa and hammam, an international buffet restaurant, authentic Moroccan eaterie and domed lounge serving as a ‘souq within a souq’.This will be followed by the 28-key Al Bidda. A traditional deluxe hotel with two meeting rooms, Al Bidda includes a rooftop terrace, live entertainment and a bakery.
Henderson has clocked up three decades of hospitality experience globally and first came to the region in 1998 to take up the role of general manager for Royal Palaces Amman and Aqaba.
