With three hotels under his remit — namely Citymax Hotels Al Barsha, Citymax Hotels Bur Dubai and Citymax Hotels Sharjah — and double that in the Citymax pipeline, Sharpe is utilising all of his 40 years of experience in hospitality.
Already responsible for more than 1400 rooms, the British national wants to see 5000 Citymax Hotel rooms operational by 2018.
But the focus is on successfully opening the next property by end 2014 and, having increased company-wide RevPAR by 35% in the past 12 months, Sharpe is looking to continue to build on this success too.
In total, there are six hotels in the confirmed pipeline for the Middle East. Sharpe has also recently overseen an innovative partnership between Citymax Hotels and Lavazza, who joined forces to launch the very first Lavazza Tierra 100% Arabica, 100% sustainable grown coffee bar in the Middle East. The first of these is located in the newly renovated Citymax Hotels Al Barsha.
Sharpe graduated from Surrey University intent on developing a career within the hotel and catering industry. Starting as a chef he moved into management, becoming a general manager of a five-star hotel in Riyadh. His broad experience coupled with his impressive track record enabled him to hold various senior regional posts with Holiday Inn, Accor and Le Meridien Hotels and Resorts in the past.
