Hamad Abdulla Al Mulla joined Katara Hospitality as chief human resources and administration officer in 2009 before eventually being appointed chief executive officer in 2011.
The group is famous for the prestigious hotels it owns overseas, such as Raffles Hotel Singapore, but it also owns and operates in house brand, Merweb. Katara Hospitality owns and operates Merwebhotel Al Sadd Doha and Merwebhotel Central Doha, with Merwebhotel City Centre Doha due to open this year. The company is focusing heavily on refining and expanding the Merwebhotel brand.
Katara Hospitality is also eyeing mid-market growth and its diversification strategy includes introducing four-star business hotels and leisure resorts in potential markets.
A role model for Qatari hoteliers, Al Mulla previously held roles as GM at Merwebhotel Al Sadd Doha, GM of Doha Club in 2006 and deputy GM at the Doha Marriott Hotel until 2005.
