Shetty’s aim is to ensure guests at Ramee hotels have a ‘wow’ experience and he is using more than 30 years of hospitality experience to achieve this.
This year saw the group, which typically deals in the mid-market, open a five-star hotel in Seef District, Bahrain. In total, the group has 38 hotels open across the UAE, Bahrain, Oman and India. Three hotels are in the pipeline for the Middle East.
Shetty loves being able to provide employment for people and says that one of his aims for the next 12 months is to open more hotels to create jobs. He also set up the Ramee Foundation, which has helped many in need.
But for Shetty, his hotels are closer to his heart than most chairmen: “My hotels are my children, whom I have nurtured and watched grow. My heart swells with pride when I see yet another one make a name for itself.”
