After graduating from Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland with a degree in hotel management, Andreas Mattmüller went on to work for prestigious hospitality companies around the world.
In a career that spans 38 years as a hotelier in 15 countries across five continents, Mattmüller joined Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in 2001, at a time when there were just a handful of Mövenpick hotels in the Middle East. Now, under Mattmüller’s management, the company has 26 hotels in the Middle East and four more scheduled to open by the end of 2014.
Across Asia, also under his remit, Mövenpick has nine hotels and resorts, with at least one more scheduled to open this year. With the portfolio in Middle East consolidated, one of Mattmüller’s priorities is to grow the brand further in Asia, drawing upon his ability to build relationships in order to do so.
Over the next year, Mattmüller will focus on raising the group’s performance in financial and non-financial key performance indicators such as EBIT results; guest experience and quality as measured by third party and non-solicited web-based feedback, RevPAR performance; and employee satisfaction amongst other individual key priorities tailored for each hotel — all areas he was proud of achievements in during 2012.
Prior to joining Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, Mattmüller was operations director Asia & Europe for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group based in Hong Kong, after running prestigious properties such as the Mandarin Oriental Singapore, Le Méridien Beach Resort Phuket in Thailand, Le Méridien Hotel Kuwait, the Hong Kong Hotel and the Regal Méridien Airport Hotel, Hong Kong.
