Sami Nasser is a familiar face in the Power 50 but this year, he appears in a new role as senior VP operations Middle East, Africa and India for Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, a title he took on in July this year.
It’s another step up the career ladder for Nasser, with a far larger geographical region now under his remit than in his previous role as VP operations Middle East, Egypt and Indian Ocean for Sofitel, part of Accor, where he had worked for 25 years.
Now at FRHI, Nasser overseas a portfolio of 18 operating hotels, 11 of which are in the Middle East, including the latest additions to the portfolio, Fairmont The Palm, Dubai and Swissotel Makkah. Still to come this year, according to the FRHI website, are Fairmont Ajman, Fairmont Fujairah and Fairmont Riyadh Business Gate in Saudi Arabia.
In total, there are 10 properties signed, in design stage or under construction in the Middle East, including a third Dubai property, Swissotel Jadaf Dubai, scheduled for completion in 2015.
