Gabriel Escarrer Jaume completes 10 years as the vice chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International this year.
With more than 23 years of hospitality industry experience, Jaume is the driving force behind the group.
According to Meliá’s website, the group currently has a total of 5,034 rooms with 4,641 rooms in the pipeline, spread across nine countries in Asia.
Meliá Hotels International has seen a relatively quiet year, but the group is now gearing up for one of the most anticipated properties in Dubai this year, the first ME by Meliá hotels in the region.
Last year it was announced that the property would open in Q4 of 2018, however that date was pushed “due to further constructions” to Q4 2019. When it opens, ME Dubai will be part of the 95-metre high Opus building designed by the late Zaha Hadid in partnership with Omniyat. What makes this property special is that The Opus, is the late Dame Zaha Hadid’s first building in the emirate. Located in Business Bay, the buildings are made up of two glass towers.
