Led by chief operating officer Robert Kunkler, Minor Hotels has had a busy 12 months with extensive expansion plans across the Middle East and Africa for its Anantara and Oaks Hotels & Resorts brands.
Three Anantara properties are currently under development in the region. The 130-key Anantara Mina Al Arab Ras Al Khaimah Resort is scheduled to open in late 2020. Also in the UAE and scheduled to open in Q4 2019 is the Avani Ibn Battuta Dubai hotel, while the 233-key Anantara Sharjah Resort is scheduled to open in 2021.
The new-build property will offer facilities such as multiple dining options, a male and female spa and wellness centre, and a ball-room able to accommodate up to 500 guests. The company broke new ground with Oaks Hotels & Resorts, which it acquired in 2011, when it launched the 110-key Oaks Beirut in August.
Anantara will launch in North Africa this year with the opening of the 93-key Anantara Tozeur Resort in Tunisia towards the end of 2019 and the 150-key Anantara Al Houara Tangier Resort is scheduled to open in 2021 in Morocco.
