Kevork Deldelian, has more than three decades of experience in the industry and has spent 29 years of that working in the MENA region.
Three years ago, he joined the group and eventually became the CEO of Millennium Hotels and Resorts Middle East & Africa.
Since joining Millennium Hotels and Resorts, the group has made quick progress in the region. Talking about its growth in Dubai, Deldelian said: “Dubai is a key focus with nine hotels in the pipeline over the next two years, where we have introduced the new Millennium Hotel and Resorts brands — Millennium Place and Studio M. In the last quarter of 2018 we opened Grand Millennium Business Bay, Studio M Arabian Plaza followed by Millennium Atria Business Bay and Millennium Place Marina in 2019.”
Saudi Arabia is another country of interest for the group, with eight hotels in the pipeline — Copthorne by Millennium Jeddah, Millennium Hotel Jizan, M Hotel Madinah, Copthorne by Millennium Al Maabdah Makkah, Copthorne by Millennium Alaziziya Makkah, Millennium Riyadh Olaya Hotel, Millennium Place Hotel Riyadh and Millennium Tabouk — in the next two years.
In the last quarter of 2018, the group opened two properties in the kingdom — Millennium Hotel Madinah Airport and M Hotel Makkah Al Aziziyah — adding to the growing portfolio of properties opened in 2018.
The group has big plans for Saudi Arabia as they plan to open more than 5,000 keys in Makkah as religious tourism is expected to increases in the city.
Currently, the group operates 43 hotels and 14,314 rooms in the region and a total of 24 hotels and more than 9,084 rooms in the pipeline.
Speaking about expansions, Deldelian said that the group is growing its portfolio in Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Turkey and Georgia. He added, “In Iraq, we successfully opened three properties under three different brands, Grand Millennium Sulaimani, Millennium Hotel & Spa Kurdistan, and Copthorne Hotel Baranan.”
Deldelian has his eyes set on expanding the brand, “Our development objective is to have 100 hotels in the next five years. The Group’s evolution in the region is not only a consequence of our team’s efforts but also importantly very much a reflection of our respect for the culture and traditions in the region. I believe we have a very unique identity that provides our owners with the gravitas of an international brand combined with an innate understanding of the region.”
