Middle East Fuji to showcase Kobe beef at SIAL Middle East

The trade exhibition will run for three days from December 12 to 14 in Abu Dhabi

Middle East Fuji LLC is participating at this year’s SIAL Middle East Exhibition to showcase its Kobe beef offering.

The trade exhibition will run for three days from December 12 to 14 in Abu Dhabi.

SIAL Middle East takes place annually, in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) and under the patronage by H.H. Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority.

Middle East Fuji LLC managing director Ryusaku Hayashi said in a statement: “As we continue to strengthen and grow awareness of our highest genuine quality Japanese Kobe beef, leading sector events such as SIAL are essential platforms for us to interact with our peers, potential partners and customers, as well as further reinforce our brand on a local and regional level. We aim to connect with high end restaurants, hotel executive chefs as well as government partners and the FMCG network in the region.”

Kobe beef is produced under strict Japanese laws, and is currently distributed by Middle East Fuji LLC in the UAE. The average sales price of prime cuts is AED 1,700 ($US 465) per kg. The meat is a delicacy renowned for its flavour, tenderness, and marbled texture.

Wagyu or Japanese cows are divided into four breeds – Japanese Black, Japanese Brown, Japanese Poll, and Japanese Shorthorn. Tajima-gyu cows from which Kobe beef comes from belong to the Japanese Black breed. From 7000 Tajima-gyu cattle only about 5000 of these cattle are certified as Kobe beef.

All Tajima-gyu cows are graded and assessed by the Japan Meat Grading Association according to four factors – beef marbling, meat color and brightness, firmness and texture of meat, and color, luster and quality of fat – each of which is graded from 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest quality score for Kobe beef.

Visitors to the Middle East Fuji stand K017 can sample the beef which will be prepared on site by a Japanese chef.
