Moevenpick’s Marcus is F&B Manager of the Year

Marcus Dudley's achievements recognised in Hotelier Middle East Awards

Moevenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach director of F&B Marcus Dudley was named Food and Beverage Manager of the Year, sponsored by Meat & Livestock Australia, at the Hotelier Middle East Awards 2012 presented by Du.

Dudley beat off competition from Fairmont Heliopolis & Towers in Cairo, Crowne Plaza Jeddah, Dar Al Tawhid InterContinental Hotel Makkah and Hilton Ras Al Khaimah to win the top title.

The judges were unanimous in their decision that Marcus Dudley deserved the Award.

“This year, he has achieved massive increases in profit, as well as reducing staff turnover to minimal levels and more than doubling employee satisfaction scores,” they said.

“He’s launched new concepts, is leading Moevenpick’s Food for Life project in the region and has achieved great personal success this year with the completion of his self-funded MBA,” they added.

Ultimately, the judges described Marcus as a fantastic inspiration to other F&B professionals.

Dudley commented on the night: “It’s feels fantastic to win, I was nominated last year but to win this year is really good.”

Asked what it takes to be a good F&B manager he said: “As an F&B manager it’s important to give your team the tools to get their job done, be that equipment or the freedom to do what they need to do and if they’ve got good ideas, implement them.”

Highly commended in this category was Marino Gherardi, F&B manager at Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Resort & Spa.

The Hotelier Middle East Awards 2012 took place at the Ritz-Carlton DIFC in Dubai.
