At the Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS), Marriott International,reported a 52 percent increase in organic rooms signed in 2023 compared to 2022.
Throughout the year, Marriott secured an averaging of management or franchise deals of almost 2.5 deals per day, totalling approximately 164,000 rooms worldwide.
In the US and Canada, Marriott set a new record by signing 91,000 rooms, including 37,000 from the strategic licensing agreement with MGM Resorts International.
The company also witnessed substantial growth in signings outside the US and Canada, with nearly 73,000 organic rooms signed across 74 countries and territories, particularly in China, Vietnam, Japan, United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and India.
Marriott’s global development pipeline reached nearly 3,400 hotels and approximately 573,000 rooms by the end of 2023, reflecting a 15 percent increase from the previous year.
As of the close of 2023, Marriott’s worldwide system had almost 8,800 properties and over 1,597,000 rooms in 139 countries and territories. The group also completed the acquisition of the City Express brand portfolio, adding 150 properties and approximately 17,500 rooms to its system.
