Earth Hotels, a brand first founded by HE Raki Phillips and business partner Alan Honein, will open its first hotel in 2023.
Earth Hotel Altitude will open in Jebel Jais, followed by two more properties, Earth Hotel Marjan Island and Earth Hotel Mangroves.
Earth Hotels was founded back in 2017 by Phillips and Honein. However, RAKTDA CEO Phillips is no longer involved in the business.
Honein is best known for his role as COO of SugarMoo, which the pair founded in 2016.
In 2019, the brand was awarded Best Hotel Brand For Investors at the Arabian Hospitality Investment Conference (AHIC).
A report in August this year by WAM, confirmed that Earth Hotel Altitude would open in 2023.
What is Earth Hotels?
According to its founders, “Earth Hotels is pioneering a new-age lifestyle-driven hotel, offering an eco-friendly sustainable, tech-forward design-centric experience. Introducing an innovative construction model by taking repurposed shipping containers and converting them into hotel rooms, speeding up the development to record time and lowering investors costs by almost one-third of a traditional midscale market cost per key.”
Tech-driven and created with the environment in mind, all Earth Hotels are automated for reduced energy consumption. Interiors will use recycled items, properties will use solar energy, and plastic and paper use will be driven down.
Sustainable products will also be prioritised.
Earth Hotel Altitude
Earth Altitude will be located in Jebel Jais, 1,934 metres above sea level. “Earth Altitude is a minimalist’s dream”, says the brand, where 16 retreats will be tucked into the rugged Jebel Jais terrain.
It will house a fitness centre, be located close to the world’s longest zipline, and provide easy access to a range of hiking trails and cycling tracks.
Earth Hotel Marjan Island
Earth Marjan Island will offer resort rooms, cabana rooms or duplex sky suites, all of which will be underpinned by sustainability. Promising an “effortlessly cool and social vibe”, the hotel will host resident DJs, dance parties and comprise its own beach bar.
Inviting guests to “party all night” the hotel will also have a dining social hub, central bar, indoor and outdoor communal spaces and much more.
Earth Hotel Mangroves
Nestled in a natural reserve “a quick detour from the city,” the Earth Mangroves will offer 41 bungalows dotted along a waterfront. Again promising minimalism, the hotel will have stripped-back interiors but facilitate kayaking, paddle boarding, yoga and meditation activities.
A “Sticky Lounge”, is the epicentre of the hotel, says the brand, bringing like-minded travellers, thrill seekers and staycationers together to socialise and revel in the “smug glow of collective bliss.”
The hotel description adds: “Welcome to wholesome hedonism, where clean living is the new debauchery.”
Earth Hotel Porto
Going international, a fourth Earth Hotel is also confirmed, this time for Portugal. Earth Hotel Porto will be the brand’s answer to a buzzy lifestyle hotel in the city.
