Ajman hotels get dossier on COVID-19 restrictions as tourist destinations prepare to reopen

Occupancy in hotel restaurants, bars and cafes to be curtailed to 30%

Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) has issued 13-pages of guidelines to hotel owners as the emirate prepares to reopen key tourist destinations.

This includes restricting occupancy to no more than 30% of facilities in hotels, including restaurants, bars and cafes.

Mandatory temperature checks will be carried out for everyone entering the hotel and different doors are to be allocated for entry and exit, as well as visible floor markings outlining strict social distancing of two metres for areas such as reception and concierge.

Hand sanitisers and disinfectants are to be made available and protection equipment, such as masks and gloves, need to be available in enough quantity for guests and employees.

It also stipulates that all hotels must allocate isolation rooms at all times that need to be disinfected after every use and have to disinfect and sanitise the premises on a weekly schedule to be shared with ATDD supervisors.

Staff must be trained on how to deal with potential COVID-19 cases and cleaning and disinfecting records must be kept for a period of three months.

We are working closely with our partners in the hospitality and health sectors to overcome any difficulties during these challenging times, and will continue to promote Ajman as a leading tourist destination in the United Arab Emirates.”
