Preliminary data released by STR for the month of March shows that Abu Dhabi hotels were significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Compared to March 2019, occupancy dropped by 32.9% to 55.1%, while average daily rate (ADR) decreased by 32.6% to AED33.92 and revenue per available room (RevPAR) fell by 54.7% to AED183.86.

Officials from the capital city have been attempting to mitigate the financial strains caused by the coronavirus; midway through March it was announced that rebates on rentals for the tourism sector would be given, as well as suspending tourism and municipality fees for the rest of the year.
