Oman is closing its borders to everyone except GCC residents from today. Reported by sister publication Arabian Business, the Sultanate came to the decision to stem the spread of coronavirus in the region.

The Supreme Committee has also closed all parks and public play areas, suspended Friday prayers and banned all social gatherings, including weddings and funeral ceremonies.

According to the World Health Organisation, Oman currently has 22 confirmed cases of COVID-19, making it one of the countries with the fewest cases in the region.
