Abu Dhabi issued 176 tourism licenses in 2019

The total number of economic licenses issued last year rose by 63.9% compared to 2018

Abu Dhabi issued 176 tourism licenses last year according to the 2019 Business Activity report issued by the Abu Dhabi Business Centre (ADBC) of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development's (ADDED).

Given to Abu Dhabi-based organisations operating within the tourism sector, those given licenses include tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers, cruise operators and restaurateurs.

In total, ADBC issued 18,628 economic licenses last year, up from 11,366 the previous year. This figure marked a 63.9% increase and brought the total number of registered licenses in the emirate to 172,577 at the end of 2019. 

H.E. Rashed Abdul Karim Al Balooshi, Undersecretary, ADDED explained: “The growth in economic licensing is attributed to ADDED’s successful initiatives and concerted efforts towards fostering economic growth in the emirate, which falls in line with Abu Dhabi government’s vision to develop and stimulate a business incubating environment and facilitate economic transactions, thereby attracting more local and foreign investments, increasing Abu Dhabi’s competitiveness and reaching better ranking in the different international classifications and reports.”
