Pegasus Airlines announces Istanbul to Ras Al Khaimah flight

Flights been Istanbul and Ras Al Khaimah are now in operation with Pegasus Airlines, a Turkish budget-airline.

The inaugural flight took place on November 28, departing from Instanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW) on 27 November at 9:50pm and arrived at Ras Al Khaimah’s International Airport (RKT) at 3:20am on 28 November.

In celebration of the flight, passengers were greeted with a red carpet on arrival and a water cannon salute was organised.

Ras Al Khaimah’s International Airport has seen an increase in inbound tourists over the past 18 months assured the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority. Overall visits to the emirate has increased by 5% this year between January to October. Visitation peaked in August with 117,995 visitors.

Ras Al Khaimah International Airport is currently connected to destinations around the world including Prague, Moscow, Luxembourg, Warsaw, and Jeddah. The emirates hopes to bring in 1.5 million visitors by 2021, doubling that number by 2025.

Government of Ras Al Khaimah Executive Council’s H.E. Engr. Shiekh Salam bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, said: “We are proud to announce the new route between Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport and Ras Al Khaimah International Airport. Ras Al Khaimah is a key player in the local aviation market, and this just one of many developments we have planned for the airport in the coming months and years.”

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority’s CEO Raki Phillips, continued: “The new route from Istanbul to Ras Al Khaimah is a fantastic achievement for the airport. It opens up our beautiful Emirate to key markets in Turkey and beyond. The new route is just in time for one of our busiest seasons, as the weather cools down, tourists are able to take full advantage of Ras Al Khaimah’s many great outdoor assets, inclusive of the beaches and mountains.”

Ras Al Khaimah International Airport’s CEO Sanjay Khanna, concluded: “The new route from Istanbul to Ras Al Khaimah is a fantastic achievement for our airport and I cannot wait to see the many new travelers who will pass through our airport. We have world-class facilities here at Ras Al Khaimah International Airport, allowing tourists to travel with convenience and ease. Our partnership with Pegasus will further connect Ras Al Khaimah with 26 European destinations including the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, the Nordics and Russia via Istanbul”
