Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts has partnered with the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) to host GEN’s ‘Startup Huddle monthly meetups’ at a number of the brand’s properties.

The programme helps entrepreneurs, while providing an easier and more accessible place for professionals to work and network. The partnership will commence during the annual Global Entrepreneurship Week (November 18-24).

The Crown Plaza brand has already established a number of co-working spaces. Recently it unveiled its ‘Plaza Workplace’ concept, a co-working lobby boasting spaces for visitors to focus.

There are also ‘breakout areas’ and a bookable-by-hour meeting space called The Studio.

GEN brings more than 15,000 members in 170 countries to the table. With the partnership, which is GEN’s first hospitality entry, Crowne Plaza hotels will offer discounts to the members.

Libby Escolme, global vice president, Crowne Plaza, explained: “This partnership comes at the perfect time for the Crowne Plaza brand as we expand our new flexible lobby and room designs in flagship properties around the world. From our lobby concepts to our patented WorkLife guest rooms, our hotels are truly serving the modern business traveller and local business communities.”

Jonathan Ortmans, founder and president of GEN, commented: “We are thrilled to partner with the Crowne Plaza brand in helping foster healthier ecosystems for entrepreneurs from all backgrounds to thrive. Local startup ecosystems need connectivity and density – the vibrant atmosphere of the new Crowne Plaza lobby concept offers a home for entrepreneurs to collaborate and build community. The Crowne Plaza brand is an early adaptor in recognising the important role they can play, and we look forward to seeing more of our programmes and communities leveraging their local Crowne Plaza hotel as a hub for community innovation and growth.”
