Oman’s tourism ministry urges tourists to dress ‘modestly’ in Salalah

The ministry has issued more than 50,000 leaflets at several tourism centres to raise awareness

Oman’s Ministry of Tourism has asked tourists visiting Salalah during the Khareef season to ‘dress modestly’, a report by the Times of Oman read.

According to the article, the ministry has issued more than 50,000 leaflets at several tourism centres at borders to increase awareness about dressing accordingly.

Transport companies too have agreed to broadcast the message, the report read.

This awareness campaign was created so that tourists respect local traditions that are in line with Islamic customs, traditions and practices, the newspaper said.

The ministry also urged people to make sure that they get permission before they click photos of public places with people in them.
