In an exclusive interview with Hotelier Middle East, the chairman of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa said that the emirate of Sharjah needs more hotel rooms if it is to reach the goal of more than 10 million visitors by 2021.

“Our [Sharjah] growth has been steady over the past 10 years in all sectors, but in tourism today if we talk about Sharjah, we have almost have an inventory of almost 10,000  keys in hotels and hotel apartments that exist today,” HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa said.

“In the pipeline we will have five thousand rooms by 2021, which is Sharjah’s tourism initiative,” HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa added. 

HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa said that this will be achieved by increasing the hotel inventory 50% by 2021.
