Khareef season, Oman’s annual tourist season, began on 21 June 2019 and will continue until September 21, 2019, the Sultanate’s Ministry of Tourism has announced.

During the season, the country receives a huge influx of tourists from within Oman and neighbouring GCC countries.

According to data from the National Centre for Statistics, in 2018 the region recorded 826,376 visitors, an increase of 28.1% when compared to 644,931 tourists in 2017.

Dhofar is famous for its seasonal weather, locally known as monsoon or “khareef”. The region is also famous for the Salalah Tourism Festival that takes place from 15 July to 31 August every year.
