Seven hotels open in Salalah as Oman prepares for Khareef tourist season

A total of 34 hotels with 4,115 rooms ready to receive the influx of tourists

Seven new hotels have come up in Salalah, Oman as the Sultanate readies itself for its Khareef season this year, the Ministry of Tourism has announced.

The Khareef season (21 June- 21 September) sees a huge influx of tourists who visit the city for a summer break.

Officials revealed that in the last few months, seven hotels in the range of two to five stars have been launched.

Speaking to Oman News Agency, Marhoon bin Said al-Amri, director general of tourism said: “34 hotels with 4,115 hotel rooms and 6,312 beds were ready to receive tourists during the Salalah tourist season”.

In addition to the new properties, Amri added that the Rotana Hotel and Al Fanar Hotel have completed their expansion into Hawana Salalah destination — an integrated Integrated Tourism Complex in Oman.

Meanwhile, the four-star Millennium Hotel opened in Al Saadah, area, Salalah recently, while work on the four-star Bilad Point Hotel project has also completed.

Amri told the news agency, “We expect that it (Bilad Point Hotel) will open during the current Khareef season. A number of hotels and commercial complexes such as the three-star Bristol Hotel will open in Al Saadah area. This is in addition to Al Saadah City Mall, Al Saadah Commercial Complex and Al Waha Mall in the industrial zone," he added.

According to statistics of the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the total number of tourists who visited Salalah in 2018 was 826,376, an increase of 28.1% in comparison to 2017.
