The Ascott Limited launches hotel training programme for Saudis
Programme to help students to enter hotel management positions across the Kingdom
In an exclusive interview with Hotelier Middle East, Vincent Miccolis, the regional GM for The Ascott Limited, has revealed that the hotel group has launched a hotel training programme specifically aimed at young Saudi nationals that will help such students to enter management positions within a one-to-two year period.
“[We are] trying to find Saudi students who have studied business abroad and have an interest in the hospitality business. We bring them [the students] into our Saudi properties, as well as exposing them to the hotel industry internationally,” Miccolis said.
Miccolis said that the hotel group currently has a Saudi female training in one of the company’s hotels in Bahrain, where she will work in different departments for one year.
“After a year, she will move into a managerial position in one of our Saudi properties, such as a supervisor or deputy general manager,” he said.
Miccolis said that there is a high demand in Saudi for hotel training roles. “[Potential trainees] have to demonstrate what they can do. [we have to] train the right people for the right job,” he added.
Hotelier recently reeported that the Sngapore-based owner-operator firm The Ascott Limited will open two properties in Istanbul in the next two years.
According to a statement, the Citadines Maslak Istanbul will open in Q3 of 2019, followed by Citadines Nivo Istanbul in 2020.
The hotel firm made its debut into the Turkish city in August 2017 when it opened Somerset Maslak Istanbul.
